Muckamore Houses

The Present day photograph shows that the houses in 'Abbey View' at Muckamore have not changed much. These were mill workers homes for York Street Flax & Spinning Company had a large mill here. In the Past photograph the larger houses at each end of the road housed the 'Gaffers'. The house to your left also had the Post office and the one at the other end housed also the general store. There is another row of houses behind this one and it is called 'Race View' because you can see the nearby mill race.
