The reason the blacksmith's forge was built was that Viscount Massereene came by one day and seen his blacksmith working away in the rain with ni shelter to protect him and immeadiately orderd the forge to be built. I have just found out that the little girl in the Past photograph is a Mrs Caroline Stewart her maiden name was Kissick. Caroline lived just round the corner in Massereerne Street and she was not allowed in the forge as in the past she used to run in and the blacksmith was afraid she might get hurt by one of the horses. One of the boys standing next to her his surname is Harrison, the other boy she did not know as he came from Riverside and back then Riverside and Massereene boys and girls did'nt play together! By the way the man with the horse was Jimmy coulter one of the blacksmiths, the other was his dad.
My thanks to Caroline and her son Robin Stewart for giving me some of the above information.
