In
the Past photograph of High Street you can see the Massereene Arms Hotel with
Murphy's bar on the ground floor. Next to it going right was Hall's Hotel
and then the Adair Arms Hotel, the shop to the left of the Massereene Arms
Hotel was Conway's general store and the owner was called Peter. He mostly
sold clothing but he thought if there was a ready market for an item he would
have it in his shop. Some of the advertisements outside his shop show that
he sold Lyons' Tea, Pastry, Minerals and Players cigarettes. Follow the pavement
to the centre of the photograph and you will see a dark figure next to the
car, it is of a little old lady bent over with a walking stick. Move on across
now to the middle of the road where two ladies are crossing it, one of them
is carrying a suitcase perhaps they are going on the bus or to book into one
of the hotels. now on across the road to the right of the picture and here
is a man with his horse and cart selling something to the lady next to him.
