This
Present day photograph was taken from All Saints' Parish Church Tower in 2000
and the Past photograph was taken some time in the 1950's. If we look to the
bottom left hand corner the first two shops were owned by Nicholl's, next
is a cafe and after that I do not know. Perhaps someone can tell me more about
them if so please email me. On up the same side of the street you will see
a gap between the houses, that is the entrance to the Methodist Church which
at one tme was our local library. This menas the next row of houses were pulled
down to make way for the new road. Now we cross to the other side of the street
and you can see a row of Cherry trees which were donated to the town by Henry
Dupre Malkin Barton. Come back down the street and just opposite the lorry
in the road is the telephone box, still in the same place but now modern instead
of the beautiful red boxes.
