In
this Present day photo this was the start of Castle Street and it ran from
the Market Square out of town ot the north past the chapel in the distance.
The Castle grounds are to your left and in the Past photo you can see the
'Frenchman's House' and the Royal Irish Constabulary barracks. Samuel Rea's
Antrim Saw Mills was also in Castle Street along with a pub owned by PAtrick
Magill. Sadly as you can see in the Present photo all the buildings were demolished,
but thankfully one of the shops owed by Rea and the Barracks were removed
and rebuilt stone by stone at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra
in Co. Down. So go along there and relive the days of long ago.
