As in
all restoration work not all of it can be old to make the building useable
and so looking through this old window you can see the new in the background.
All
the photos below are by Gary Shaw.
It's
now June and work is now on rebuilding the roof.
This
is a close-up of the main trusses and shows the repair work to strengthen
the beams.
This will be the Auditorium with a balcony, which you can
see being built.
Here
we are on the second
floor looking towards the stairwell & lift shaft
. . . .
Using
an industrial power hose this man is stripping off the years of grime and
dirt to get to the original surface.
Here the steps have been made and then will finished off
to a high degree.
It's now nearly 12
weeks later the 5th June '09 and what a fantastic job the restoration people
have done. . . . This is the first section
of the cupola and it will be completed hopefully within the next few weeks.
.....
.
. . . .This inside
photograph of the cupola shows the timbers have been restored beautifully.
