I
would like to thank Gary Shaw of Antrim Borough Council for allowing me permission
to not only visit the site but to take photographs. This dig which was in
July was to asertain the outer walls of Antrim Castle but further digs in
the grounds will be happening.
This was Antrim Castle
before it was destroyed by arsonists.
This (A) shows parts of
the turrets from the top of the castle.
This (B) is the outer
wall of the castle and behind that is the actual castle wall.
This (C) is part of the
entrance hall and this is the original paint that covered the entrance walls.
This (D) is part of the
round towers that were at the front of the Castle.
This is more parts of
the frames for the windows.
Here we have (E) part
of one of the frames for the front windows.
This (F) is part of the
front section of the castle wall. The red tiles are most likely either wall
or floor tiles as there was access below here for the servants.
What seems to be a passage
way between the inner and outer wall could have been for servants.
